A few years ago I had the pleasure of meeting a woman in my office and for all intents and purposes was perfectly healthy. Most people ask – why does a person that is healthy need to see a chiropractor and get adjusted, if they are in little to no pain? The answer to that question is because chiropractic is not only about pain, it is about function as well.
The reason I bring that last point up is because a patient, Samantha, sought out chiropractic care because she and her husband had been trying to have a baby for 7 years. Unfortunately, they were not able to conceive. Medical testing for both of them revealed, ‘that nothing was wrong and everything was fine’. Samantha and her husband became desperate to find a solution. They asked the advice of their family medical doctor in which she mentioned for them to see a chiropractor.
A few days fast forward, when first meeting Samantha in our office, she stated that she felt great, had very little to no pain, but had been having a difficult time becoming pregnant. With her medical doctor’s advice, she decided to give chiropractic a try in hopes that it could potentially help her condition. Upon her initial exam and when analyzing the x-rays of her lower back, we could see that the vertebrae which is responsible in helping the brain to communicate with the appropriate structures and organs was severely rotated.
I adjusted Samantha for a total of 4 weeks before she and her husband became pregnant. They now have 2 beautiful children! Hannah is now 14 and Michael is 12. The imbalance in her spine could have occurred from any activity of daily living and/or the redundancy from sitting at a desk all day.
While some people think it should take an accidental, slip and fall or traumatic experience of some kind before getting adjusted, we now can see with Samantha’s story that everyone can benefit from chiropractic. Not just those that are in pain. I am very honored and happy to have been part of Samantha’s journey with chiropractic!!
